ABOUT THE ROLE:
We are searching for an exceptional Chief Financial Officer to join our executive team.
This is a unique opportunity to shape the financial future of a thriving enterprise. Our current CFO, a highly valued founder, is transitioning away from day-to-day operational responsibilities. While remaining an integral part of the Sessions family and contributing strategically, their shift opens the door for a dedicated financial expert to take the helm and drive our financial strategy, operations, and performance.
This role involves overseeing all financial activities, ensuring the financial health of the company, performance management and improvement, and providing strategic insights to support growth and sustainability.
The ideal candidate will bring experience from a senior finance leadership role, such as Finance Director or CFO, and demonstrate a genuine passion for fast-paced, high-growth start-up or scale-up environments.
This role is intended to operate at Board level with formal appointment subject to the successful candidate meeting all requirements and organisational readiness.
WHAT WILL YOU DO?
- Strategic Financial Planning: Develop and implement financial strategies, forecasts and budgets which support the company’s growth objectives and ensure efficient allocation of resources and cost control. Working closely with other senior leaders in the business as a partner.
- Financial Reporting: Oversee the preparation of financial reports including flash reporting, monthly management accounts and year end audit and statutory accounts processes. Ensure accurate and timely financial reporting to stakeholders.
- Board & Investor Reporting: Oversee the materials and information provided to the Board, lenders and investors.
- Corporate Governance: Undertake the company secretarial responsibilities with regards to Companies House, maintaining and managing the Cap Table and share option schemes. Monitoring and ensuring compliance with the Investment Agreement and Bank Facility.
- Key Liaison: Act as a primary Director-level contact with external partners as required, such as insurers, HMRC, landlords, lawyers, financial institutions and advisors.
- Treasury and Cash Flow Management: Develop capital structure strategies as well as monitor and manage cash flow to ensure financial security and solvency. Implement strategies to optimise working capital.
- Financial Analysis: Conduct financial analysis to identify trends, variances, and opportunities for improvement. Provide insights to support decision-making.
- Compliance and Risk Management: Ensure compliance with financial regulations and standards. Identify and mitigate financial risks. Support the leadership team in any compliance, dispute or risk issues.
- Team Leadership: Lead and develop the finance team. Currently comprising a Group Financial Controller and one Finance Assistant. Foster a culture of high performance and continuous improvement. Overseeing their key responsibilities of AP, partner payments/reporting, payroll, management reporting and accounts.
- Operational Support: Collaborate with other departments to support operational and strategic initiatives.
- New Market Expansion: Play a pivotal role in supporting the company’s planned global growth and entry into new international markets.
REQUIREMENTS:
- A professional qualification OR at least 3 years in a finance leadership position.
- Experience in international expansion is preferred but not essential.
- Start up or scale up experience.
- Experience in the tech or food industry is preferred but not essential.
- Thrives in a fast paced, self starter environment.
- Evidenced examples of drive and ambition within previous roles.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, data-led.
- Excellent communication, presentation and influencing abilities.
- Proficiency in financial software and systems.
- Strong leadership and team management skills.
- Strategic thinker with a hands-on approach.
- Adaptable and resilient in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
- High level of integrity and professionalism, and an eye for detail.
- Passion for innovation and start-up culture.
- Charismatic and energetic, with a passion for food ideally.
- Expert level of English language.
- Right to work in the UK.
